Wings of Hope

Since 1994, Wings of Hope has been a critical part of the St. Joseph Family, providing a safe, happy, loving, caring, and hopeful family environment for children and young adults with physical and mental challenges.

Today, Wings of Hope provides a home and second chance for over 30 residents who would otherwise be shunned by Haitian society. At Wings of Hope, each child receives a combination of occupational therapy, physical therapy, recreational therapy, and classroom time, along with art, dance, and music classes.

Developed in close collaboration with well-regarded schools and programs in the United States and Canada, programming is aimed at giving each student experiences that are educationally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually enriching and designed to maximize potential and enable each individual to live life to the fullest.

Residents and day students also enjoy wonderful opportunities in the larger community. These enriching experiences help improve socialization, coordination, balance, and physical activity.

Staff at Wings of Hope

Many members of the staff at Wings of Hope are graduates of the St. Joseph Family, all work at a semi-professional level, and all are paid a decent living wage, as compared to Haiti’s average annual income of U.S. $400.

Planning a trip? Wondering where you would stay?

Interacting with the residents of Wings of Hope is a life-affirming experience. To facilitate your time at Wings, a comfortable guest house is maintained on the property, with accommodations available by reservation year-round.  Breakfast and dinner are included in the nightly fee of $55. A co-ed bunk room that sleeps up to 28 guests and two private rooms are available. The view of Jacmel Bay from the roof is amazing!

At the end of a long day in the Jacmel sun, visitors can enjoy respite in the cool ocean waters, only a 5-10 minute walk from the guest house. Downtown Jacmel also is a wonderful tourist destination, boasting many talented artisans and craftspeople. The beach-side town is undergoing multi-phased renovations, making it an extremely pleasant side trip and glimpse into Haitian culture.
