The department of social services came to
Wings of Hope asking them to take in a little boy
who had been abandoned at a hospital in Jacmel.
While he is clearly disabled, he came with no diagnosis
or history. The Wings of Hope staff was told he
was 4-years-old, but he was very small, and smaller
than a normal-developing 2-year-old. Since he was
abandoned social services did not even know his
name. The Wings of Hope leadership named him
Jak seems to have some intellectional disabilities
and physical disabilities. He also has
seizures. Jak doesn’t walk and doesn’t talk. But, he
will make eye contact and likes interaction with others.
Jak gets physical therapy at Wings of Hope
and also participates in recreational therapy to help
him develop.
